UltraZED Steel Purlins - Gutter Support

Use of Eaves Beams to Support Gutters

Where cold rolled Eaves Beams are required to support gutters we recommend that consideration is given to the high imposed loads often inherent of gutter systems and the effect these may have on the stability and integrity of the Eaves Beam and its associated component parts.

Particular attention should be given to the bracing requirements and we would recommend consultation with our Technical Department.

Use of Purlins to Support Gutters

Where gutters are supported from Purlins by the use of gutter straps, the Purlin should be restrained against twist by the additional use of Eaves Braces or SRS Type Struts. Restraints should be such that the maximum unrestrained length of Purlin does not exceed 2.5 metres. SRS Type Struts should be used where no suitable eaves member is available. Diagram 3 illustrates a possible solution to a hidden gutter detail where restraint to the outboard line of Purlins is difficult to achieve.
