Business in the Community announces Stewart Towe as its new Chairman in the West Midlands |
 Monday 1st February 2010.
Stewart Towe, Hadley Group Managing DIrector, is to become the new chairman of Business in the Community (BITC) in the West Midlands.
Stewart will take over from Ben Reid, who has stood down as chair of BITC’s regional leadership board after eight years.
"I am delighted to welcome Stewart Towe to our board and look forward to working with him in the future. Stewart has been a staunch supporter and advocate of responsible business. He continues to lead a successful company and leads from the front to tackle social issues particularly in education and in Sandwell" - David DarlastonRegional Director, Business in the Community
Stewart Towe said “It is a privilege to take on the chairmanship of such an important organisation in the corporate social responsibility arena, particularly following such an effective and professional chair as Ben Reid. We have a dynamic team in place who will continue to `make a difference’ at the interface between business and the community”.
Mr Reid, who is chief executive of The Midcounties Co-operative, said changes at the Co-operative as the organisation moves forward, had brought him, reluctantly, to his decision to retire from the role he has held since 2001.
“I wish Stewart, David and the rest of the team well for the future. There is still a big challenge ahead, but they are the right people to be taking it on”.
Business in the Community mobilises business for good. It challenges companies to carry out responsible business in order to improve their performance and benefit society. It was established 27 years ago and its president is The Prince of Wales.
